Members of  the Geary County Historical Society celebrated 50 years for that organization with their ice cream social on Sunday. Heather Hagedorn, Executive Director, said there was a strong turnout and music provided by the Kansas Brigade Band, JCHS Jazz Band and JCHS Orchestra.

The event, which is a fundraiser for the Historical Society, included  the sale of a variety of food items ranging from pies and cakes  to hot dogs and hamburgers. "It's just a great community event.

Members of the Geary County Commission along with Society President Florence Whitebread all agreed to be pied in the face as part of the activities.

Not only is this the 50th year for the Society, but it is the 40th year for the building at 530 North Adams to serve as the location for the museum.
