After starting the season 6-0 Junction City ( 10-5 ) has since gone 4-5. On Monday night in Topeka they fell to Washburn Rural ( 7-9 ) 54-51.
The Blue Jays led by five at halftime before the Junior Blues outscored them 23-11 in the third quarter.
Junction City coach Nick Perez said that was a subject that received attention in the locker room at halftime. "Just bringing energy and we just didn't bring any energy. Guys have got to understand that when you're not scoring you've got to do some other things for your team. It can't be all about buckets. " Perez added that he thought that was the problem for the team. "We start looking at the stat lines instead of just worrying about the one that matters."
Perez added the Blue Jays "have guys that are thing about the wrong things right now." Late in the contest Junction City trailed Washburn Rural by one but a pair of missed free throws also proved costly.
The Blue Jays go right back into action Tuesday night, hosting Hayden.

In the girls contest Washburn Rural ( 14-1 ) coasted to a 69-26 win over the Junction City Lady Jays ( 2-13 ). Sophia Holloway scored 11 points for Junction City.
The Lady Jays also host Hayden Tuesday night.
