Teaching is a "Profession of the Heart."
That was a key point made by the emcee for the Celebration of Teaching Banquet David Wild Wednesday night at the Geary County Convention Center.
Numerous employees received scholarships while retirees were also honored.

The Devin Family Scholarship for Teachers was presented to Gina Wagers, the Ron Shandy Memorial Scholarship for USD 475 Teachers to Rixie D. Dillard II, Geary Community Schools Foundation Teacher Scholarships went to Ariana Ahlers, Abigail Barnes, Madison Gritton, Jennifer Hansen, Teresa Palmer, Frederic C. Smith and Erica Testa.
Geary Community Schools Foundation Paraeducator Scholarships were presented to Sandra Elisabeth Cedebo de Mix, Sarah Elisabeth Morales-Vitello, Heather Lee-Ann Pagulayan and Leslie Ann Schmutz.

Retirees recognized included Cindy Brake, Susan Gillespie, Joan Hayden, Sierra Jackson, Catherine Rankin, Sherry Sare, Debra Stevens, Kathi Teeter, Delaine Walls, Mary jane Witt, Donice James, Megan Roe, Susanne Altwegg, Tammie Hobbs, Josefine Kaehler, Beth Norman, Richard Waters and Jacqueline Wooten-Herron.
