Junction City Main Street plans on major downtown cleanup

Junction City Main Street has announced that they are expecting a large contingent of 150 volunteers for a Downtown Winter Clean-up on Friday from 8 a.m. until noon.

Main Street representative Terry Butler said work will be done on Franklin, Jefferson, Washington and on 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th Streets.

Work will range from picking up leaves and pulling dead weeds from cracks to using hoes and shovels to dig up the mounds of mud, leaves and gravel. Fallen limbs will be picked up, baby trees will be cut down, there will be cleaning behind buildings, removal of old signs from windows and placement of new promotional 11 x 17 signs in windows.

Parks and Recreation will have a dump truck downtown and some crew present. They will bring rakes, brooms, hoes, cutting tools and spades, They will provide chemicals to kill baby tree trunks and public works personnel will provide 100 bags.
