On Monday night, Junction City officials along with the Fire and Police Department held a 9/11 ceremony on the front lawn of the Municipal Building.
Junction City Police Chief John Lamb was the emcee at the ceremony, where there were guest speakers, a posting of the colors, wreath laying, and a 21-gun salute. Emergency vehicles were also out for the public, with a fire truck extending its ladder to hoist the flag, which was flown at half-staff.

The guest speakers for the event were: Geary County Emergency Management Director and Rural Fire Chief, Garry Berges, Geary County Sherriff, Dan Jackson, and Junction City Fire Department Chief, Jason Lankas.
Each guest gave their memories on what transpired on September 11, 2001, and where they were at in their careers when the Twin Towers collapsed.
City Commissioner Ronna Larson played a crucial role in putting this event on. With a large turnout at the ceremony, Junction City officials plan to have this ceremony again next year.
