RCPD: Suspect in hit-and-run that injured pedestrian is in custody

RILEY COUNTY -Law enforcement authorities investigating a hit-and -run that critically injured a man have made an arrest.

Just after 9:30p.m. Feb. 11, police were called to the 4700 block of Skyway Drive in Riley County, according to a social media report from the Riley County Police Department.

First responders found a 30-year-old man on the side of the road with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle.

The man was initially transported by Riley County EMS to Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan and he was later transported to Stormont Vail in Topeka for treatment of his injuries.

Just before 3p.m.  March 2, officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested a 34-year-old Kristopher Scott Mackey of Manhattan in connection with the incident. He is being held without bond  on requested charges of Interference with LEO; Falsely report a felony, intending to obstruct; Interference with LEO; Conceal/alter/destroy evidence in felony case;  and Failure to stop at accident; Result in great bodily harm.
