TOPEKA â€“ Governor Laura Kelly traveled to Alma Monday to discuss the state’s efforts to provide Kansans with safe, affordable housing options. Governor Kelly toured housing units in Alma developed through grants and loans provided through the Moderate Income Housing Program, according to a media release from her office.

“Affordable housing is a vital component of recruiting and retaining workers, families, and entrepreneurs to help rural and urban Kansas thrive,” Governor Kelly said. â€śWe cannot capitalize on our record-breaking economic success if we don’t have affordable housing options for our workforce. Together we will work to develop more decent, safe, affordable, and accessible housing.”

Governor Kelly was accompanied by representatives from the Office of Rural Prosperity, Kansas Housing Resources Corporation, and local community leaders.
