Live Well Geary County release
Thanks to the generous support of Stormont Vail Health’s charitable contribution the Geary Community Farmers Market and Live Well Geary County are proud to announce a new initiative aimed at supporting families and promoting healthy eating habits. Beginning this August, active WIC participants who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum may receive a $25 coupon to use at the Junction City farmers markets to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables.
The program is designed to increase access to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables while supporting farmers and food producers. By partnering with area farmers markets, this initiative ensures that families can enjoy the nutritional benefits of seasonal produce right from their own communities.
“Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is one of the best ways to support a healthy pregnancy and postpartum recovery” said Kalie Kipp, Dietitian at Konza Prairie Community Health Center WIC. “We’re thrilled to use this community grant to make fresh, nutritious food more accessible to families who need it most.”
Benefits of Eating Fresh Fruits and Vegetables:
● Provides essential vitamins and minerals for maternal and infant health
● Supports healthy weight and digestion
● Reduces risk of chronic diseases
● Encourages lifelong healthy eating habits
This program reflects Geary Community Farmers Market and Live Well Geary County’s ongoing commitment to health equity, food access, and community well-being. Coupons will be distributed through Konza Prairie Community Health Center WIC office and are redeemable throughout the farmers market season.
