Geary County Convention & Visitor's Bureau Director Michelle Stimatze confirmed Tuesday that the CVB will coordinate the Sundown Salute celebration in 2021. "We hope that everything goes smoothly, that COVID does not interfere with the event. All the bands that were scheduled for last year will be set for this next year." Stimatze added that because of that a lot of the leg work has already been completed.
Stimatze did not commit to coordinating the celebration in 2022, in what would be the 50th year for the July event. "It just depends. There are a lot of different tourism things that are in the works, and I need to direct my attention to that. It's been a great opportunity to see Sundown Salute succeed over the past five years. "
Sundown Salute had to be cancelled this past July due to the coronavirus pandemic.
