One of the founders of Grandview Plaza, Gerald Henry "Jerry" Bielefeld, 95, has died. According to his sister, Mary Sanders, Bielefeld founded the city of Grandview Plaza which was incorporated in 1963, along with William Marth, C.C. Witt and W.O. Homer. "He was very proud of it. Yes, he was very instrumental in a lot of the things that the city accomplished."
Sanders noted that Bielefeld served as the mayor of Grandview Plaza for five terms, for nearly 20 years, before retiring.
Visitation has been set for Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Johnson Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 203 North Washington. There will be a service at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 630 S. Eisenhower in Junction City. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery.
