WASHINGTON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just after 9a.m. Thursday in Washington County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup driven by J. Douglas Toll, 78, Clifton, was eastbound on 5th Road four miles north of Kansas Highway 9.
The driver failed to stop at the stop sign at Bismark Road.
The Chevy collided in the intersection with a southbound Caterpillar Motor Grader driven by Jeremiah James Peters, 45, Washington, Kansas.
Toll was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. Peters was not injured. The drivers were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
