Junction City is eligible for community development block grant programs. City staff will work on two grant applications for areas that could perhaps include such improvements as sidewalks and housing rehab programs. Applications must be submitted by October.
City commissioners received an update on that topic Tuesday night plus others.
--Main Street raised $15,000 from events they hosted in 2025.
-- Commissioners awarded a bid for the 2026 Water System Improvements to J & K Contracting, L.C. in the amount of $1,027,278, and awarded the bid for the Freeman Field Airport Tip Down Beacon Light to Atlas Electric, LLC in the amount of $121,714.
--Live Well Geary County helps overseee the produce garden plot at the 12th Street Community Center. They're able to apply for Pathway Commmunities funding help. One goal will be to apply for funding to build a bigger shed at the site.
--Congressional District Two for Kansas African American Affairs Commission will hold a Town Hall on Saturday April 18 at the Second Missionary Baptist Church.

--The second annual spring cleanup will be held April 20 - 25.
