The Junction City Commission has voted to make a counteroffer to Geary County of a proposed flat EMS fee of $145,000 per month for fiscal year 2024. The city and county have been at odds for some time on the EMS fees.

The city has approved a motion that they are considering a proposed budget for 2025 with a property tax levy of 50.115 mills. That would exceed the revenue neutral rate, necessitating a public hearing.

Staff recommended that hearing be held during the second commission meeting in September.
