Eighth Judicial Nominating Commission will convene Wednesday to interview 12 nominees for two district judge vacancies. Judge Steven Hornbaker retired June 1 and Chief Judge Michael Powers will retire Aug. 20.
Nominees that will be interviewed include Samantha Angell, Krista Blaisdell, Keith Collett, Amy Coppola, Bobby Hiebert, Douglas Jones, Valorie Leblanc, Jason Oxford, Susan Robson, Britain Stites, Laura Viar and Jennifer Wyatt.
The nominating commission will convene to interview nominees beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Geary County Courthouse. Interviews are open to the public. The commission will select from three to five people whose names will be submitted to the governor to consider in filling the position according to statutory qualification and residency requirements.
