Retention of teachers is a priority for Dr. Anwar Khoury, candidate for reelection to the USD 475 Board of Education. "We're proud to offer them the best professional development any district can offer teachers." Khoury added that Junction City is a transient town and retention of teachers is important.
Khoury also believes diversity is important in the teacher population and in the future supports continuing improvement in school achievement for students. "We've worked on improving the ACT scores the past several years and we're working on that so there's still things to be done."
Khoury is proud of accomplishments in the district during his years on the school board. He referred to one on one technology programs where students were provided computers, the building of a new high school and multiple elementary schools, and hopefully soon a new early childhood center.
"If you want experience, passion and dedication to the school board, I believe in our teachers and administration and most importantly our students. I would like to continue the great programs that we have done."
Election day is Nov. 7.
