Superintendent’s Three R Awards Honored
On Monday night, Dr. Reginald Eggleston, USD 475 Superintendent of Schools, recognized exemplary students with the
3R Award. The award is given to students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of respect, responsibility and building positive relationships. Earning recognition on Monday were Violet French (Grandview Elementary), Cailyn King (Ware Elementary) and Joseph Tabaldo, V (Seitz Elementary).
Purple Star Recognition
A Purple Star Certificate of Recognition was awarded to Grandview Elementary, Seitz Elementary and Ware Elementary on Monday for demonstrating a major commitment to supporting students and their families connected to the United States military.
Washington Elementary Teacher Honored
Washington Elementary first-grade teacher Zayra Espinoza was honored on Monday for being recognized by the College
of Education at Kansas State University for her exceptional work in the classroom. Each semester, the college of education produces a teacher recognition video series called Crash the Class, which showcases early career teachers who are K-State alum.
USD 475 Teachers Honored
Washington Elementary instructional coach Jennifer Fallin and Fort Riley Middle School sixth grade math teacher Samantha Garner were honored on Monday night for being named the district’s nominees for the Kansas Master Teacher Award.

Grandview Elementary, Ware Elementary and Seitz Elementary presented to the Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education the results of their most recent Kansas State Assessments
Grandview Elementary Highlights
• Grandview Elementary has had success with Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) implementation.
• PBIS is a set of ideas and tools used in schools to improve students’ behavior.
Ware Elementary Highlights
• Ware Elementary highlighted its walk to intervention for ELA and Math MTSS.
• Principal Veronica Wait also talked about Ware Elementary continuing to focus on social emotional supports.
Seitz Elementary Highlights
• Seitz Elementary has a solid SIT process that allows for layering of interventions in English Language Arts.
• Seitz Elementary will continue to increase student talk using Kagan and Hattie High Yield Strategies.
Board Approves Lease Purchase Agreement
On Monday, the Geary County Schools USD 475 Board of Education approved Resolution 2024-32 for the lease purchase agreement for the new USD 475 Early Childhood Center. This resolution will allow USD 475 to enter into a lease purchase agreement to finance the acquisition, construction and furnishings of the upcoming USD 475 Early Childhood Center.
Resolution 2024-30 Approved on Monday
On Monday, the board approved Resolution 2024-30 to adopt a policy regarding enrollment of nonresident students. Kansas law, K.S.A. 72-3126, requires that the board of education of any school district adopt a policy to determine the number of nonresident students a school district has the capacity to accept in each grade kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as all program grades (9-12) for each school in the school district.
