More than 472 volunteers dedicated 64,672 hours of service to Fort Riley and the surrounding community in 2021. According to a social media release by the Post, more than 45 of those volunteers were recognized in multiple categories at the Fort Riley Annual Volunteer of the Year Ceremony.

Recognized as Fort Riley's Active Duty Soldier of the Year was SFC Hannah Nunley, 97th Military Police Battalion. She coordinated large scale volunteer projects as opportunities for fellow soldiers to give back to the community. Her efforts led to the recruitment of over 40 active duty soldiers participating in 14 volunteer projects in 2021. Her contribution continues with her work with the Rapid Response team which is dedicated to relocating families that are a victim of domestic violence.
