More than 600 Geary USD 475 third grade students attended Ag Day at the 4-H / Senior Center on Friday.
Kyler Langvardt, Agriculture & Natural Resources Extension Agent, said the students learned about agricultural products, where their food comes from and how it's produced.
He noted that the youth had a chance to view projects. "Cow calf, a dairy calf, poultry, pigs and sheep. So they're getting a variety of livestock animals that produce the food that they eat."

Ag Day Co-Chair Karen Erichsen has been involved with this annual event since 1993. "They're going to learn about animals." Students rotated from location to location during the event, explained Erichsen. "We generally have two ( volunteers ) for each group." There were stops both inside and outside on the rotation.
During the stops inside the 4-H / Senior Center Erichsen said the young people learned about topics such as wheat, corn, soybeans and 4-H.
Also, Geary County Soil Conservation brought a trailer that was used to help teach erosion control.
