Geary County Commissioner Trish Giordano would support a marketing campaign for the whole county. Her comments followed interest by Alan Bontrager in developing a campaign to promote five downtown restaurants so they remain in business.
Bontrager noted that the Convention and Visitor's Bureau was approached but was unable to provide funding at this time. He is hoping to talk with the JC First organization in November about obtaining $10,000, based on having some other available funds. His overall fundraising goal is $25,000.
Giordano said, "I would consider putting some funds toward a marketing campaign if it encompasses the whole county. " She added that could help everything including Main Street.
No action has been taken by the county commission.
