Want a day trip to explore Kansas?  Kansas Tourism announced that Kansas families can once again explore the state’s rich cultural and natural heritage for free as the 2025 Sunflower Summer program kicks off next month.

Kansas Tourism announced Tuesday that more than 230 attractions — including museums, historic sites, zoos, arboretums, and art centers — will participate in this year’s program. The initiative provides Kansas students from pre-K through 12th grade and one accompanying adult with free one-time access to each location between July 12 and August 3.

“With such a wide variety of exceptional attractions participating this year, Sunflower Summer continues to open doors for Kansas families to explore and connect with every corner of our state,” said Lieutenant Governor and Secretary of Commerce David Toland. “This program not only creates unforgettable memories for students and parents — it also fuels local economies by drawing visitors to main streets, museums and hidden gems across Kansas.”

Eligible participants can download the Sunflower Summer app to claim digital passes and redeem them upon arrival at participating attractions. The program is open to Kansas residents only and includes students in public, private, and homeschool settings.

“We’re thrilled to bring back Sunflower Summer for another year,” said Kansas Tourism Director Bridgette Jobe. “The variety and quality of attractions participating this year truly are outstanding — and we can’t wait for the season to begin.”

The Sunflower Summer program is part of Kansas Tourism’s ongoing effort to encourage exploration within the state and support local tourism economies.
