Sheldon Butler-Lawson hit two free throws with 1.5 seconds remaining to help the Junction City Blue Jays ( 6-3 ) defeat the Hayden Wildcats ( 3-4 ) 44-42 at the Blue Jay Event Center Tuesday night.
The Blue Jays led by 10 points in the fourth quarter but four missed free throws by Junction City and some three-point field goals by the Wildcats allowed them to tie the game in the closing moments.
In girls action the Lady Jays ( 1-8 ) cut a deficit down to one point in the second half before falling to Hayden ( 4-3 ) 37-27.
Junction City plays at Emporia Friday night.
