Geary County Clerk Courtney Gilbert has provided the filing requirements for local elected offices.
In addition to petition and/or filing fees, there are multiple documents that need to be completed by the candidate at the County Clerk & Election Office (cash or check only).
COUNTY COMMISSION DISTRICT #1 (currently held by Trish Giordano)
Petition Requirements: Republicans 76 valid signatures plus $50 fee to Geary County. For a Democrat 41 valid signatures plus the $50 filing fee to the county. For an independent candidates 246 valid signatures plus the $50 filing fee to the county. ( Independent candidates can only file by petition.
Or candidates cam file by fee: $432.25 plus $50 fee to GEC = $482.25.
TOWNSHIP CLERK: Filing Fee: $1.00 = $1.00
PRECINCT COMMITTEEMAN / COMMITTEEWOMAN: Filing Fee: No filing fee.
