The Junction City Fire Department would like to remind you that the city has changed the ordinance regarding sale and discharge of fireworks. The change was made to mirror surrounding communities and to simplify the times.
Fire Chief Jason Lankas said that except as otherwise provided in this ordinance, it is unlawful for any person or entity to sell, store, or discharge fireworks within the city limits of Junction City. Term "fireworks" as used in the Code of Ordinances of the City shall have the definition set forth in the regulations of the Fire Marshal of the State of Kansas.
Fireworks may be sold and stored pursuant to rules and regulations established by the Chief of the Junction City Fire Department ("Fire Chief'), and subject to the obtaining the Special Event Permit from the Fire Chief as provided in Chapter 655 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Junction City, Kansas
1. Fireworks shall only be sold in the City when it is legal and permitted to discharge them.
2. Fireworks for sale or display may be stored in the City of Junction City, Kansas two days prior and two days following the period allowed for discharge and sale of fireworks.
Discharge of fireworks within the City of Junction City is prohibited at any time, except as follows:
1. Fireworks that are legal to be sold within the City of Junction City, may be discharged on private property from and including July first (1st) to and including July fourth (4th), during the following times:
11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
