USD 475 will host Parent University on Saturday

Parent University will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 2, at the H.D. Karns Building, 300 W. 9th St., in Junction City.

According to Marketing and Media Specialist Monica Springer, Parent University is a parent engagement program designed to promote successful partnerships among parents, schools and communities.

Speakers will include:

  1. Kate Stewart, USD 475’s Director of School Improvement, Intervention and Assessment, who will speak about Social Emotional Learning in the school district.
  2. Chandler Whaley, a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and a Licensed Masters Level Psychologist for Konza Prairie Community Health Center, speaking about how to help kids with pandemic stress.
  3. Craig Lawless, a Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist at Konza Prairie Community Health Center, speaking with Whaley on how to help kids with pandemic stress.
  4. The Junction City Police Department will also attend the event and have a discussion with parents on issues affecting students today.
  5. Parents who attend will hear about summer activities for their kids.

Parent University will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the H.D. Karns Building. Breakfast will be provided and there is no cost to attend.

Childcare will be provided for school-aged children.
