Parent University will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 2, at the H.D. Karns Building, 300 W. 9th St., in Junction City.
According to Marketing and Media Specialist Monica Springer, Parent University is a parent engagement program designed to promote successful partnerships among parents, schools and communities.
Speakers will include:
- Kate Stewart, USD 475’s Director of School Improvement, Intervention and Assessment, who will speak about Social Emotional Learning in the school district.
- Chandler Whaley, a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and a Licensed Masters Level Psychologist for Konza Prairie Community Health Center, speaking about how to help kids with pandemic stress.
- Craig Lawless, a Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist at Konza Prairie Community Health Center, speaking with Whaley on how to help kids with pandemic stress.
- The Junction City Police Department will also attend the event and have a discussion with parents on issues affecting students today.
- Parents who attend will hear about summer activities for their kids.
Parent University will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the H.D. Karns Building. Breakfast will be provided and there is no cost to attend.
Childcare will be provided for school-aged children.
