Geary County Sheriff Nate Boeckman has released a first quarter 2025 update for his department.
--Justin Stopper has been named Undersheriff
--David Gilbert is the Captain of Administration
--Employees have fully moved back into the remodeled administrative office area after inmates clogged sewer lines in 2024.
--A facility feasibility study was authorized by the county commission. The collection of data and scheduling of interviews from vaious stakeolders are being organized. Onsite assessment is scheduled for April 29 to April 30.
--Criminal Interdiction Team 1st quarter statistics under traffic stop seizures included 115 pounds of Cocaine, 4 .5 pounds of Fentanyl, 26 pounds of Mthamphetamine, 228 pounds of Marijuana, 17 gallons of PCP, $32,000 in stolen property, seizure of $64,677 in drug/criminal currency, three criminally possessed firearms seized, these cases led to the arrest of 12 subjects.
--Two of the above cases led to the controlled deliveries of illegal drugs, which resulted in the seizure of an additional 130 pounds of cocaine and numerous arrests.
--The are pursuing a joint SWAT Team consisting of members of the Geary County Sheriff's Department, Junction City Police Department and Grandview Plaza Police Departments.
