Tuesday weather preview

Posted Jun 17, 2025 2:31 PM

Geary County Emergency Management announced Tuesday morning that WEATHER RADIOS ARE CURRENTLY DOWN. Now is the time to prepare for severe weather and ensure you have at least two methods to receive your warnings.

A bit of a complicated severe weather forecast Tuesday as light showers/non severe storms will linger Tuesday morning into possibly early afternoon. Gusty winds to 50 mph are possible. A boundary should become the focus for afternoon storm development (generally south of I-70) in the mid-late afternoon. If these storms form, very large hail, damaging wind gusts, and a few tornadoes are possible.

Tuesday evening, the severe threat increases area wide as a line of storms moves in from the west. Damaging wind gusts are the highest impact, followed by large hail, a few tornadoes, and flash flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect over portions of north central and northeast Kansas. Activity clears the region Wednesday morning.
