Manhattan— Fire investigators have determined the cause of two recent fires that occurred in Manhattan.
The March 28 fire at the Taco John's, 214 Leavenworth Street has been ruled accidental. Fire investigators determined the fire started by self-heating of cooking oil on soiled towels in the rear storage area of the building and confirmed it after video evidence was recovered, according to Deputy Fire Chief Ryan Almes.
The fire that occurred on Saturday evening May 15 at the apartments located at 1200 Yuma Street was determined to be an accidental fire caused by an electrical overload of a multi-plug outlet, according to Almes.
