Geary County Rural Fire
On Monday, July 27 at approximately 11:00am, fire units were dispatched to Flag Stop Campground in the city of Milford for a camper on fire. The fire had also spread to a nearby pontoon boat.
Geary County Fire, City of Milford Fire, and Ft. Riley Fire responded. A med unit from Junction City KS Fire Department was also sent to the scene. Wakefield Fire responded with a tender unit to assist with water supply.
Two nearby campers also sustained damage on the outside from the fire. Fire units were able to extinguish the fires. A Kansas State Fire Marshal Investigator along with a Geary County Fire Investigator concluded that the fire was most likely caused by a roof-top air conditioner on the top of the camper.
There were no injuries during the fire or fire suppression.
