Topics ranging from updates on Fort Riley and protecting Fort Riley to presentations by both the Junction City and Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce are on the agenda for the Flint Hills Regional Leaders Retreat at the Hilton Garden Inn in Manhattan on Thursday.
Maj. Gen. Douglas Sims will provide an update on the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley at 8:40 a.m., while the Executive Director of the Governor's Military Council Perry Wiggins address Protecting Fort Riley at 9:20 a.m.
Manhattan Chamber of Commerce CEO Jason Smith said the retreat will allow a number of people to gather and discuss priorities and strategies to move the community forward in terms of economic development and prosperity. "Several years ago that was expanded to include the region and so we have partnered with the Junction City Chamber and the Wamego Chamber and now that is a regional summit.
The retreat will continue on Friday with a presentation by the Wamego Area Chamber of Commerce and Fly MHK, the Manhattan Regional Airport. Numerous other topics are on the agenda both days.
