Blue Jays fall in Bobcat Invitational championship game

Basehor-Linwood jumped to a small lead in the first quarter and then never trailed in a 70-50 win over the Junction City Blue Jays in the championship game of the Bobcat Invitational in Basehor.

Blue Jay coach Nick Perez said the Bobcats broke Junction City down defensively. "We talk about kind of being on an island tonight. They've got a lot of guys that can shoot it and we got lost." Perez added the Blue Jays would watch the ball and Basehor-Linwood would then score via the back door, getting layups early in the contest.

Perez thought Junction City ( 8-2 ) played well in the first quarter but struggled in the second and did not make shots.

Howard Johnson and Seth Clark of Junction City were named to the All Tournament team. Johnson led the Blue Jays were 26 points in the loss to the Bobcats.
