Cross Country remembers Bob Schmoekel

Longtime Junction City High School track and cross country coach Bob Schmoekel is being remembered in the community. His memorial service was held Friday along with a get-together of family, friends and former JCHS runners at Milford State Park. On Saturday the annual Bob Schmoekel Cross Country Invitational was held including a moment of silence for Coach, who passed away in March of this year at the age of 77.

Schmoeckel's teams won multiple state track and field championships and the 1986 and 1987 Class 6A State cross country championships. He coached for 52 years, most of t hem at Junction City High School.
