September is Intergeneration Month, an initiative founded by Attorney Sandy F. Kraemer in 2000 as an offshoot of the Intergeneration Foundation. While the foundation originally launched "Intergeneration Day" to connect generations, it quickly became clear that a single day was not enough to celebrate and encourage these vital connections.
The Junction City Commissioners accepted an I.C.A.R.E.proposal and signed a proclamation in 2015 officially declaring September as Intergeneration Month. Please participate this month to help make the strength of each generation meet the needs of all.
Great Ideas to mix generations
1. Hug someone of another generation
2. Read a short book out loud
3. Visit a nursing home
4. Play board games
5. Tell/listen to childhood memories
6. Connect with family members of a different generation in person, phone, letters, email
