Thomas Joseph Rogers, 53, of St. George, Kansas died Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas.  He was a long time resident of St. George.

Tom was born in Manhattan, Kansas on December 1, 1966, to Carl Victor and Karen Louise (Doll) Rogers.

Tom joined the United States Navy in 1985, serving during the Persian Gulf War.  He was an excellent cook working in food service for the Navy until he was medically discharged in 1994. 

Tom loved to do anything outdoors.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting for morel mushrooms, rocks, and walking sticks.  He was known as Dr. Greenthumb, he would grow plants and vegetables and shared them with everyone he knew.  Mostly Tom was known to help others; no matter the time of day or what it took he was always there to lend a helping hand.

Tom married Elizabeth Herbert on July 26, 1988. They were later divorced.  He then married Tina Caldwell on February 7, 2007.  They were later divorced.

Tom is survived by his parents, Carl and Karen, St. George, KS; his son, Carl Aaron Rogers, Spokane Valley, WA; his siblings, James “Jason” (Stacey) Rogers, Wamego, KS, Katrina Rogers, St. George, KS; his nephew Jake Rogers, OR and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Samuel and Marion Rogers, and maternal grandparents, Francis and Monica Doll.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at Lighthouse Baptist Church in St. George, Kansas.  Reverend Jim Lowry will officiate.  Inurnment will follow at the St. George City Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Campanella-Evans Mortuary to be used for funeral expenses.
