The Geary County Historical Society will be debuting a new exhibit this Saturday, June 24th at 1 p.m. The new exhibit, which focuses on local businesses, will feature a 10 foot long mirror that originally belonged to the Volz & Birch Pharmacy inside the Bartell House around 1890. The mirror was installed in the museum over weekend with the help of DM Construction & Remodeling, who are sponsors of the exhibit.
Other features of the exhibit include a grocery store counter out of Peter Pan grocery store, 1950s era prom dresses out of businesses including Claire’s, Hampton’s and The Fashion Shop, and the cash register from LaShelle Shoe Store.
The exhibit opens Saturday, 1-4 p.m. with special soda fountain treats off the Clewell’s Drug Store menu, which will be available for a small donation. All are invited to attend.
The Geary County Historical Society is located at 530 N. Adams, Junction City. For more information, call 785-238-1666.
