UPDATE: JCPD: 34YO JC resident, arrested in Missouri, in connection with homicide

UPDATE:

Following an extensive investigation, on Sunday at approximately 6 p.m. the Junction City Police Department Arrested Joshua Sturgis a 34 year old resident of Junction City on the following requested charges in connection with the Sunday morning shooting death of Justin Rose, 38, Junction City.

• 2nd Degree Murder

• 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault

During their investigation Detectives identified Sturgis as the primary suspect. The Missouri Highway Patrol located and initiated a traffic stop on Sturgis detaining him in Saint Charles County Missouri. Junction City Police Department Detectives then traveled and placed Sturgis under arrest on the charges.

Sturgis is currently being held in Saint Charles County Missouri on a $1,000,000 bond pending extradition. The Junction City Police  Department thanked the Missouri Highway Patrol, Geary County Sheriff’s Office, Junction City Fire Department, and the Saint Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Junction City police have confirmed that on on Sunday at approximately 0200 hours the Junction City Police Department was dispatched to the 900 block of North Washington for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival officers located one man subject suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Geary Community Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Justin J. Rose, 38, Junction City.
