JCHS release
JCHS reported that the girls squad closed out competition at the state track meet in 17th place out of 32 teams, while the boys finished 21st overall at Cessna Stadium in Wichita. Individually, the junior duo of Isaiah Byers and Tylen Smith paced Junction City in the 200 meter final, blazing to a fifth and eighth place showing, respectively. Smith also had a solid outing in the 100 meters, clocking a time of 10.90 to place fifth overall on Saturday. Finally, the 4x100 of Lance Norris, Smith, Aidenn Segura and Byers recorded a time of 43.10 to place No. 7 overall.
On the girl’s side, freshman Linden Pickler continued her outstanding performance at state on Saturday, closing out her season in style by clocking a time of 5:10.00 to place sixth in the 1600 meter final. The girls’ 4x800 of Pickler, Brittney Dibben, Kourtney Dibben and Anna Fontaine recorded a top-10 showing, placing ninth overall with a time of 10:01.44.
