Tapping of the Keg at 4 p.m. Friday will signal the beginning of Oktoberfest in downtown Junction City. The event runs from 4-11 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday.
North Washington from 6th to 10th Streets will be blocked off for Oktoberfest. According to Co-Director Matt Hoover activities will include a free Kid's Zone tent with arts and crafts, all day play bands for $20, inflatables, climbing walls and putt putt golf. Circus Man will perform about every hour. "He does a little bit of everything. He does juggling, a little bit of comedy, balance activities, exercises. When it gets a little darker I think he's going to do a fire show, "added Hoover.

There will be free contests where participants are picked out of the crowd. They range from yodeling to stein holding with $100 prize first place prizes. A dinosaur exhibit is scheduled on Saturday at the C.L. Hoover Opera House with shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and also on Saturday a car show downtown from 3-7 p.m. There will be a street dance Friday evening.
The Drunk Monkeys Band will perform from 6-9 p.m. Friday and Brass Rewind Band from 5-8 p.m. Saturday.
There will be craft beer provided by Highwind Brewing Company, Manhattan Brewing Company, Aggieville Brewing Company and Riverbank Brewing.
There will be 13 food vendors plus ice cream, snow cones and Italian shaved ice.
The downtown streets for the festival will be closed at 7 p.m. Thursday and open back up no later than 9 a.m. Sunday.
