On Tuesday afternoon, the Geary County Emergency Manager issued a statement on the Geary County Emergency Management Facebook page regarding decisions made during Friday, July 1st community events.
Several storms made their way through the Geary County area on Friday evening, which impacted outdoor events across the county.
Geary County Emergency Management received numerous questions regarding why one event was cancelled due to the weather, while another continued to with their performances.
Geary County Emergency Management advised both organizing committees about the impending weather based on reports from the National Weather Service in Topeka.
Organizers for each event made the decisions on how their events would or would not proceed.
