Junction City Girls Wrestlers Place 3rd at League Tournament

Junction City girls wrestling placed 3rd at league competition this past week. The team finished with a 2–2 record in duals.

Junction City defeated Topeka High 84–0 and beat Emporia 57–21. The girls lost to Washburn Rural 45–33 and lost to Manhattan 56–22.

The girls wrestled hard and had many placers in the tournament.

Champions were:

Bre Villanueva at 115

Elizabeth Edgerton-Diaz at 130

Ka’Ori Herring at 235

2nd Place finishers were:

Khishauna Williams at 100

Shalina Hicks at 190

3rd Place finishers were:

Zaley Rock at 105

Isha Kagoni at 110

Kiera Lawton at 120

Lilli Martinez at 125 

Miracle Simon at 135 

Elaina Twitty at 140 

Ameris Blackmon at 155

The girls will travel to regionals this week to attempt to qualify for the KSHSAA State tournament. There will be Sixteen wrestlers in the brackets and must place top 8 to qualify for the State tournament.
