FORT RILEY, Kan. — The 1st Infantry Division Headquarters cased its colors Tuesday during a ceremony at Victory Park, marking the official start of the division’s movement to Europe in support of U.S. Army operations on the continent.
Maj. Gen. Monté L. Rone, commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division and Fort Riley, presided over the ceremony alongside Soldiers of the division headquarters. The casing of the colors signified the completion of the unit’s activities at Fort Riley and its transition toward deployment, where it will replace the 3rd Infantry Division Headquarters in Bolesławiec, Poland.
“Over the past year, this formation has trained hard, remain focused, and proven once again why the Big Red One is the standard for warfighting excellence,” Rone said. “As we prepare to deploy, we will carry that reputation with us, representing this division, our Army, and our Nation alongside our Allies and partners. Our commitment remains the same: Leave absolutely Nothing at Rest—which defines our relentless pursuit of excellence and readiness in everything we do.”
The ceremony reflected the division’s long‑standing traditions and its readiness to assume its mission in Europe. The 1st Infantry Division will continue final deployment preparations in the coming days.
