This week the Geary USD 475 Board of Education approved a recommendation to increase the Lincoln Elementary and Sheridan Elementary cafeteria projects to full gymnasiums. The District said by approving the project, both schools will now have two separate spaces to conduct lunch and PE activities.
The budget for Sheridan Elementary’s space is approximately $4,200,000, while the budget for Lincoln Elementary is $4,500,000.
On another topic JCHS talked about its student-based enterprises, including its auto shop, IRS tax site, Blue Jay Café and J-Store.
JCHS had 29 students who were OSHA-10 certified in 2023.
In 2023, the Blue Jays had three students receive 911 Dispatch National Emergency Communications certification.
The high school has 284 students who have received the ACT WorkKeys - National Career Readiness certificate.
JCHS is not only looking to expand its AP offerings to all students, but also offering ACT boot camps throughout the year
