Junction City Commissioners have approved a memorandum of understanding for the Initial I-70 and Taylor Road interchange on the southwest edge of the city. City Attorney Britain Stites explained that there are phases to these type of KDOT projects ranging from evaluation and proposal to design and construction, if it proceeds that far.
Stites noted that the only commitment with the memorandum would be "to talk about seeing if this would be worthwhile in the future. That's the only commitment in this. It's not dollars, it's not time, it's' not labor."
Stites added, "There's no commitment, no shovels of dirt, there's no businesses. All it is, is the interchange good for the community and the community being both Geary County and the City of Junction City."
This matter will be forwarded to the County and KDOT.
