Geary USD 475 was the first district in Kansas to implement the pilot of the Military Child Education Coalition's Purple Star School Program within its schools. There was a one-year anniversary recognition  of the program during the Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.

This program helps schools “respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school,” according to the MCEC’s website, and keeps military-affiliated students “on track to be college, workforce, and life-ready.” Geary County will continue to report its results to state leaders throughout the process.
