The Dorothy Bramlage Public Library continues its commitment to connecting the community with information, opportunity, and essential technology through its Mobile Hotspot Lending Program.

Library cardholders can check out mobile hotspots, allowing individuals and families to access the internet wherever they need it most. Whether completing homework, applying for jobs, attending virtual appointments, accessing telehealth services, or simply staying connected, the program helps bridge the digital divide for residents across the community.

The library launched its hotspot lending program in 2025 with ten hotspots. However, due to the overwhelming popularity, that number quickly doubled. As the program has grown, the library has implemented updated borrowing guidelines designed to support responsible use and reduce equipment loss and damage.

Key updates include:

· Patrons must be in good standing with the library and have a library card for a minimum of 30 days.

· A valid photo identification and DBPL library card must be presented at checkout.

· While the library remains fine free for most materials, mobile hotspots will carry a daily overdue fee due to the high demand and specialized nature of the devices.

· Patrons will sign a hotspot agreement prior to checkout.

The program reflects the library’s ongoing mission to serve as more than just a place for books. From technology access to educational programming and community support services, the library continues working to meet the evolving needs of Junction City, Geary County, Fort Riley, and the surrounding areas. This updated procedure helps protect this valuable community resource and ensures hotspots remain available for patrons who rely on them for internet access.

“We want our community to know the library is here to help,” said the Library Director. “Access to information and technology can change lives, and we are proud to provide resources that help bridge the digital divide for our patrons.”
