Geary County Commisoner Trish Giordano feels it's time to talk about increasing the transient gest tax. It is the tax paid by users of lodging facilities.
Giordano plans to put the subject on the June 16th county commission meeting agenda for discussion. She feels Geary County may be leaving money on the table and the six percent rate in Geary County is the lowest around the area. One percent of it is allotted for a sports complex project ( should one ever occur ).
The rate in Abilene is eight percent and in Manahttan seven and a half percent.
