Christmas Parade kicks off the holiday season in Junction City

A large turnout of parade goers braved the cold weather to kick off the holiday season and enjoy the 28th annual Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade sponsored by Eagle Radio and the Geary County Convention & Visitors Bureau.

There were approximately 40 entries in the parade which traveled from the former Junction City High School site down Eisenhower Drive, 6th Street and a portion of 8th Street downtown.

Award winners included the Youth Award sponsored by the Junction City YMCA to the Next Step Dance Studio,  Chamber of Commerce honor to Michelin,  Founders Award sponsored by DEL Motors to JC Naz , Mayors Award sponsored by the Central National Bank to the Humboldt 4-H Club and the Geary Commission Award sponsored by the Geary County CVB to the Clarks Creek 4-H Club. 

Some other entries ranged from the Junction City High School J-Steppers, Junction City - Fort Riley Girl Scouts to the Junction City Boy Scouts Pack 62, Junction City Main Street and the American Legion Riders Chapter 45.

The parade was followed by the lighting ceremony in Heritage Park, which included the traditional arrival of Santa Claus.
