Geary County Emergency Management Director Garry Berges reported that the Saturday night thunderstorm knocked out electricity in areas to the south and east of Junction City. Heavy rain along with 60-70 mile per hour wind gusts occurred. In the Ascher - Clarks Creek - Humboldt Creek Road area winds were estimated near 80 mile per hour, there was tree damage on Ascher Road, and up to 2.5 inches of rain in the Clarks Creek area.
Berges noted that there was quarter-size hail in the Acorns Resort - Farnum Creek area, smaller hail in Junction City and several tree limbs were down from Grandview Plaza going east.
In Riley County police confirmed that were many power outages, and a lot of downed power lines and tree damage. They also reported damage to the county shops on the north side of Manhattan. as of 10 p.m. Saturday there were 145 power outages were reported in the Manhattan area.
At 9:25 p.m. the RCPD confirmed that Anderson Ave. between 52nd Street and Kitten Creek Rd. on the west side of Manhattan was closed, and Tuttle Creek Boulevard north of Manhattan was closed around the North 48th intersection. Motorists were asked to avoid those areas.
