FORT RILEY — In 2024, more than 1,000 Oklahoma Army National Guardsmen will deploy as Task Force Tomahawk, along with one company from each, Indiana and Nebraska.
Oklahoma National Guard soldiers are currently at Fort Riley undergoing pre-mobilization training before deploying for overseas active duty.
Soldiers are training on various weapons, along with individual troop and squad movements to ensure preparedness for the mission during Task Force Tomahawk.
Conducting training increases soldier readiness for the future deployment in support of operations within U.S. Africa Command's area of responsibility.
"The ability to show that we are ready and prepared to take on any mission. So any element, any type of formation, whether it's active duty, guard, Reserve can come here and we will ensure that they get the best training possible to be able to prepare for any mission." Fort Riley Range Safety Specialist, Nick Johnson says.
