Posted Apr 18, 2022 10:10 AM

On Friday, Tyra Marteen, JAG Specialist and 11 of her JCHS JAG Students along with Dennis Bobbitt, Volunteer, partnered with I.C.A.R.E. to prep a designated space at the 12th Street Community Garden for planting. The work included putting together a raised garden bed, hauling and filling raised beds, leveling the area and cleaning debris from the area.

This pilot project is a joint effort between Live Well Geary County and the 12th Street Community Garden Committee. Two grandparents, grandchildren and youth began planting on Saturday.

On April 26th, JAG Students from the Karns Building (7th & 8th graders), older adults, and grandparents who volunteered for the Pilot Project, will begin planting together in their raised garden bed. They will be sharing garden skills and enjoying social interaction.
