JCHS Honored at Fort Hays State University High School Art Day Exhibition

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. – Geary County Schools USD 475 is proud to announce that Junction City High School had 66 art pieces earn Certificate Awards of Merit on Wednesday at the 2025 Fort Hays State University High School Art Day Exhibition.

Other highlights included senior D'Marion Swift not only placing first overall for JCHS, but also earning six awards, while one other student claimed runner-up accolades. A JCHS sophomore rounded out JCHS’ top-artists by recording a third place showing. Finally, junior Alana Gayton was awarded a $1,000 scholarship inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.

In all, 31 Blue Jays traveled to the art day exhibition. The artwork, which was judged by a juried panel of Fort Hays State faculty and Hays area artists, was displayed along with several other pieces from students throughout the state of Kansas.
